Product Description

Sodium acetate (CH3COONa) is the sodium salt of acetic acid. It appears as a colorless deliquescent salt with a wide range of applications. 

In industry, it can be used in textile industry to neutralize sulfuric acid waste streams and as a photoresist upon using dyes. In concrete industry, it can be used as a concrete sealant to mitigate the water damage. In food, it can be used as a seasoning. It can also be used as a buffer solution in lab. In addition, it is also used in heating pads, hand warmers and hot ice.

For laboratory use, it can be produced by the reaction between acetate with the sodium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate. In industry, it is prepared from the glacial acetic acid.

It is used as an esterifying agent in organic synthesis, as well as in photographic drugs, medicines, printing and dyeing mordants, buffers, chemical reagents, meat preservation, pigments, tanning, and many other aspects. It can be used to make various chemical products, such as acetate, and chloroacetic acid. As a buffer for seasonings, it can alleviate bad odors and prevent discoloration, and has a certain anti-mildew effect.

Application Fields

This product can be used to add tin in alkaline electroplating, but it has no obvious impact on the plating and electroplating process and is not a necessary ingredient. Sodium acetate is commonly used as a buffer, such as in acid zinc plating, alkaline tin plating and electroless nickel plating.

1 Used in detergent production: It is one of the main raw materials of synthetic detergent, with good decontamination, emulsification and foaming properties, and can effectively remove oil and stains on the surface of clothing, tableware and so on.

2 As an emulsifier: Used as an emulsifier in processes such as emulsion polymerization to help form a stable emulsion system so that two insoluble liquids can be evenly mixed.

3 For lubricant formulation: can be used as a lubricant additive, can play a certain lubrication and anti-wear role, improve the lubrication effect.

4 For chemical synthesis: It is an important intermediate in organic synthesis and can be further synthesized into other organic compounds, such as the preparation of alkyl benzene sulfonates.
